Board of Deacons


The board of deacons is under the jurisdiction of the session. The deacons minister to those in need, to the sick, to the friendless and to any in distress.
 
The board consists of members that are chosen by the Nominating Committee and elected by the congregation. The term of office is for 3-years but can be as long as 6 years. After 6 years, the deacon must step down for at least 1 year.
 
The deacons prepare the Table for each Communion, visit shut-ins, deliver flowers, distribute food baskets at Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter. They also send Fall and Spring “care” packages, consisting of snacks and school supplies, to our young people attending college.
 
Financial support for the work of the deacons comes from the congregation through special Deacons Offerings and through loose plate offerings on Communion Sundays.
